Keep a simple round notebook
Draw a small plan of an interesting hole without holding up other players. Mark where your ball started and describe the route it took. Note the result without assuming one attempt establishes a reliable strategy.
On another permitted practice attempt, change only one choice and compare the outcome. Respect the course rules and pace of play. A brief note can reveal more than a complicated score sheet.
